Public Informational Hearing

Governance of the Los Angeles Unified School District

August 1, 2006

To better inform San Fernando Valley residents and hear public comments, Assemblymember Keith S. Richman, MD and Senator George Runner are hosting a public information hearing on education issues and to hear the proposal by the Mayor of Los Angeles for governance of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). The hearing will be from 5:30 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at Granada Hills Charter High School located at 10535 Zelzah Avenue, Granada Hills, CA 91344.

The public meeting will give the San Fernando Valley community an opportunity to learn more about the proposal for governance of LAUSD (Assembly Bill 1381) and share their views with their elected officials. LAUSD Superintendent Roy Romer will give a presentation and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has been invited to attend.

We know community leaders, concerned parents, LAUSD teachers and education advocates will want have their voices heard on this vital subject. This hearing was scheduled after the Assembly Education Committee canceled their plan to hold a hearing in the San Fernando Valley.

See you there!
